What Should You Do If Your Rent2Buy Van Develops a Fault?
Every prepared Rent2Buy vehicle includes comprehensive warranty cover for three months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If a fault develops during that period, contact Rent2Buy Vans directly before arranging any inspection, diagnosis, dismantling or repair.
No work may be carried out without prior authorisation from Vansco Limited.
First Check Whether the Van Is Still Within Warranty
The warranty applies for:
Three months or 3,000 miles, whichever happens first
The warranty ends as soon as either limit is reached.
For example:
• If the van covers 3,000 miles after six weeks, the mileage limit has been reached.
• If the van covers only 1,500 miles after three months, the time limit has been reached.
The warranty is subject to its written terms and does not mean that every fault is automatically covered.
Contact Rent2Buy Vans First
When reporting a fault, provide as much information as possible, including:
• Vehicle registration
• Current mileage
• Date the problem started
• Description of the symptoms
• Details of any warning lights
• Whether the van is safe to drive
• Your current location
The information will be passed to the aftersales department.
The aftersales team will then contact you directly to discuss the next steps.
Can You Use a Local Garage?
In most cases, the customer may be asked to take the van to a suitable local independent garage for inspection or diagnosis.
Many customers already have a trusted local garage they use for their own vehicles. This may be acceptable, provided the arrangement has been agreed with the aftersales department.
A main dealer should not normally be used unless Vansco Limited has specifically authorised it.
Main dealers can charge substantially higher labour rates, and unauthorised main-dealer costs may not be covered.
Prior Authorisation Is Essential
No work of any kind may be carried out until Vansco Limited has authorised it.
This includes:
• Initial diagnostic work
• Further investigation
• Dismantling
• Ordering replacement parts
• Fitting parts
• Labour
• Repairs
• Recovery where authorisation is required
The garage should report its findings and proposed costs before proceeding.
Vansco Limited may communicate with the customer or directly with the chosen garage.
Any unauthorised work may not be covered or reimbursed.
Who Pays the Diagnostic Charge?
Where the van is within warranty and the reported issue is an eligible general fault, Vansco Limited will usually cover a reasonable diagnostic charge.
The diagnostic cost must be agreed in advance.
Do not authorise a garage to carry out chargeable diagnostic work without approval.
What Must Be Shown on Invoices and Receipts?
Invoices and receipts connected to an approved warranty claim must be made out to:
Vansco Limited
Copies should be sent promptly to:
aftersales@vansco.co.uk
Keep copies of:
• Diagnostic reports
• Estimates
• Authorisation messages
• Invoices
• Receipts
• Service records
• Relevant photographs
What If the Van Is Unsafe to Drive?
Do not continue driving a vehicle that appears unsafe.
Contact Rent2Buy Vans directly where the vehicle is still within the warranty period.
Explain the symptoms and wait for instructions before arranging work.
Rent2Buy Vans does not provide breakdown cover and does not provide a replacement vehicle.
Customers are advised to arrange independent breakdown cover through their insurer or another suitable provider.
What Happens After the Warranty Ends?
Once the van has passed three months or covered more than 3,000 miles, diagnostic and repair costs are normally the customer’s responsibility.
Rent2Buy is a self-maintenance arrangement.
The customer remains responsible for maintaining and servicing the vehicle throughout the agreement.
What Is the Required Servicing Interval?
The vehicle must be serviced:
• At intervals of 10,000 miles or annually, whichever comes first
• In accordance with any relevant manufacturer guidance
Proof of servicing should be retained and supplied when requested.
Missed servicing may affect whether a repair is considered under warranty.
Can Warranty Cover Be Refused?
Yes.
Vansco Limited may refuse to cover costs where a fault or damage was caused by:
• Misuse
• Neglect
• Missed servicing
• Poor maintenance
• Continued driving after a serious warning
• Unauthorised work
• Damage rather than a covered mechanical fault
Each claim is considered according to the warranty terms and the circumstances.
